Here is what my life looked like before.
The highest amount of money I was earning as a social media manager was ₦100k. And if I was even lucky, ₦150k. Any time I tried to charge more than that, clients would start to negotiate, push back, or just disappear entirely. And I could not figure out why. I was working so hard. Delivering every month. But I just could not break past that ₦100k ceiling.
And I knew I could not continue like that. I had things I wanted. A life I wanted to live. But the amount of work I was putting in was not translating into the money I was taking home. I was exhausted. Drained. Burnt out from doing so much and earning so little for it.
And as if that was not enough — I also had to deal with constant pressure from clients telling me they were not getting sales.
If you have ever received a message like that — you know exactly how it feels.
This was exactly what my life was like — until I decided that something had to change.
It was not until I learned how to run ads that everything changed. When I added paid ads to my service package, it did three things for me.
My clients started getting real results.
You know that frustration. You spend the whole month creating good content — putting in the time, the energy, the creativity — and then the algorithm just does not push it out. Low views. Low engagement. And it is not even your fault. The content is simply not reaching the right people.
With ads, I stopped hoping and started delivering. I was now taking the content we already created and putting it directly in front of the exact people who needed to see it. And because of that, clients started getting real results. Sales. Inquiries. Actual business growth. Not maybe. Not hopefully. Guaranteed.
I was able to increase my price.
Because I was now offering ads as part of my service package, I stopped working with clients who could not afford it. And the kind of clients who can afford ads — those ones can afford my pricing too.
So I stopped having those conversations where people are negotiating me down or ghosting me when I mention my price. I simply priced for the level of service I was now offering — and the right clients paid.
I started getting my own clients consistently.
Before, I was posting and praying. Hoping someone would stumble across my content and reach out to me. But I realised — the same ads skill I was using to get my clients results, I could also use to get myself clients.
So I put my own offer directly in front of business owners who can pay me — with ads. Now, every month, I get a huge flood of inquiries coming into my DMs — that used to be completely empty. And I only pick three — because three is what I can handle without burning out. And those three clients pay me at least ₦400k–₦500k each. The least amount of money I make in a month now is ₦1,200,000. From someone who was earning just ₦100k.
Here is what clients now pay me.
And this same system opened doors to something I did not even plan for.
I landed my first international client.
And I got paid in dollars.
This particular client wanted me to run ads for them. And if I did not know how to run ads, I would have lost that opportunity entirely. But because it was already part of what I do — I took the job. I delivered. And the client was happy.
And that was how I started landing more international clients. And I kept getting paid in dollars.
